RANT N' ROAR - DAY SIXTEEN

Chef's Corner

What a day yesterday ending with a bronze medal by Boxer Mike Gosine.  A true gritty effort by this athlete from Tors Cove.  Congratulations Mike and thank you for a very entertaining fight!   But that was not all.  At the daily morning Chef meeting, our very own Assistant Chef de Mission, Gary Martin, received the Sage Team Behind the Team Award for his tremendous commitment to the Canada Games program, and to sport in general.  Gary truly exemplifies what it is to be a part of the Canada Games family.  Well done Gary and thank you for all you do!

Unfortunately not all went our way yesterday, but as I have said before our athletes still clearly demonstrated their determination to do their very best and always display their “true sport” behaviour following every event.  Congratulations everyone as we begin our very last competition day of the Games.

One last thing to share… I had the privilege to inform one of our athletes that they have been selected to carry our flag at the Closing Ceremony.  Maddox Glover will be our flag bearer!  It was an emotional moment for his mother and the whole figure skating team as I had the conversation.  Oh my, I think I have something in my eye.

Have a wonderful last day and enjoy the Closing Ceremony.  Remember to take it ALL in!

EVENT AND COMPETITION SCHEDULE

ALPINE TEAM EMBRACES THE GIANT SLALOM EVENT

Today the NL Alpine team  competed in Giant Slalom. It was a snowy morning that brought challenges to the athletes, but the sky opened up to a beautiful sunny day for all the racers in the afternoon.

Despite the weather challenges each athlete performed extremely well on the track!

Figure Skating spends a day exploring the games

Their competition completed on Friday which means they were free to enjoy a full weekend soaking in The Games experience!

COWS was a big hit! They enjoyed delicious ice cream cones and a bit of shopping when they stopped by the Charlottetown location!

The glow dance was a huge hit, it was a great way to see their friends, let loose, laugh as they danced the evening away!

Pin trading continued to be an exciting and rewarding challenge with some strategic last-minute trades being made by the team members.

The Figure Skating Team didn’t stay away from from the rink long as they enjoyed the morning  attending the Bronze medal hockey game

Eager, energetic and competitive - the scavenger hunt was the perfect way for them to spend part of the day.
