17-year-old soccer athlete Mary Whiffen is attending the 2022 Canada Summer Games. She has been involved in soccer for fourteen years and currently plays as Left/Right wing with St. John’s Soccer Club. Her mother registered her when she was three years old and she has been involved in soccer ever since.

“I’m most excited to show what Newfoundland’s got after the past three years of training," she said.

Chef's Corner

It was turnaround day yesterday! We said goodbye to our Week One athletes in the early morning hours and welcomed our Week Two sports; athletics, cycling (road), golf, rowing, female soccer, and male and female volleyball I want to thank all of the amazing Team NL athletes, coaches, managers, and mission staff who worked hard all of week one to represent the province.

With Week Two competitions starting tomorrow, Team NL athletes are back to competition. I hope to get out to see our female and male volleyball players, and female soccer players taking part in their preliminary matches, along with road cycling holding their time trial events. Tonight we host our Mission night together with our friends from Team Sask, Team Quebec, and Team Yukon, some fine Newfoundland and Labrador hospitality will be shown at the Rowing Alumni Association Clubhouse.

Team NL coaches can stop by Coach House, located, in the Goodman School of Business it provides an opportunity to connect, educate, and celebrate, hosted by the Coaching Association of Canada, providing  educational and professional development opportunities as we look forward to hosting the games in 2025.

I encourage all of our athletes to support one another and Newfoundlanders and Labradorean's to continue to cheer on our athletes over the next week.

Good luck to our Week Two athletes. We’re ready to cheer you on.

Go Team NL. You rock!
