What a day for Team NL! As our teams have many highs and lows through their journey of the games, there are moments that ensure the integrity of the games is real. Last night in a section full of provincial colours we cheered on Melanie Taylor as she skated in the Special Olympics figure skating competition. She shined on the ice with a flawless routine. As we waited anxiously for the results, the athletes, coaches, managers, and mission staff were abuzz with what we had witnessed, only to be topped with the announcement she came first - the place went up. Congratulations Melanie for capturing gold and Team NL’s first medal. In addition to Melanie’s accomplishment, our team came out to support and in a big way! The arena staff had to politely ask us to leave as the celebration did not want to end. Team NL you were loud and proud!
Way to go Melanie and Team NL!
