How do I sum up the past few weeks of the 2019 Canada Winter Games? Team NL hands down have the best athletes, coaches, managers, team supports and mission staff of the entire games. You represented Newfoundland and Labrador proudly, wore our team colors with pride and exhibited true sportsmanship. It was an honour to watch you compete. Your years of hard work was displayed on the national stage and through lots of ups and some downs you held your heads high. To witness Melanie receiving a gold medal in Figure Skating and Emma a Bronze in Judo were very proud moments. From personal bests to outstanding displays of perseverance you captured the meaning of the games. Congratulations to each of you and thank you for your commitment and dedication to your sports.

Red Deer was a welcoming host and wanted to ensure each team member had an enjoyable experience. Red Deer put off a great Games with impressive facilities for our athletes to compete and outstanding volunteers who were always there to greet us with a smile and go out of their way to help.

The games focus is about the competition, but the experience goes way beyond the field of play. To witness the support that provinces and territories provided to each other confirms the importance of our involvement in the largest multi-sporting event in Canada for our youth. Ensure you never forget what you had the privilege to be part of.

Congratulations to our mission staff team who received the Claude Hardy Award. This award recognizes the talents and dedication of a provincial or territorial Mission Team. We are extremely proud of this recognition and is a true testament to each individual who was part of this team.

On behalf of myself, Gary and Frank it was a privilege to lead Team NL!

Let’s Rant N Roar all the way to the 2021 Canada Summer Games in the Niagara Region.

Go Team NL Go!
